Another Goodness I Found from Liverpool
Good people create a ripple effect of positivity wherever they go. You reap what you sow. We ever heard those wise words in our daily lives and when you meet those kinds of acts, you will be amazed.
So, this is my second day in Liverpool and the first thing that I had to do in the morning was to go to my university and report to the international student office that I already arrived in Liverpool. So, I checked my Google Maps to guide me to my university and I had to use the bus. Everything here is by bus, unless you have your own car, no 'angkot' here lol. So, when I waited at the bus stop and still had no idea that everything here was cashless, there was also a girl waiting there and she noticed that I always looked at my phone, she approached by asking where I wanted to go and luckily, she wanted to go to the same university as I am. When the bus arrived, I paid with my 20 pounds and the bus driver didn't want to take it. Again! That girl (later I know she is from India, lived not far from my accommodation and become a friend) paid for me, said 'it's ok I will pay with my card'. On the bus, she told me some valuable information about the bus schedules and where to stop if I wanted to go to the university and about the bus ticket. I have to pay exactly 2 pounds (it's about Rp. 41.000 for each travel, whether it's far or near) and some buses don't take cash but take wireless payment, so I have to make my UK bank account to get the card.
Arriving at the university, I went to the gateway office and registered myself, making my university email, taking photos for the student ID and completing the student registration for my student ID and meeting the international recruitment for my scholarship. I met my first classmate from Sri Lanka, after we finished completing everything needed, we went around the university and to the cafeteria. We bought a burger; it was a big portion, so we shared it. Then in the afternoon, we decided to go back to our place since we had nothing to do anymore.
My friend lived in campus accommodation which is in Aighburth Park and I lived outside campus accommodation, so she used the bus campus to go to her place and I had to use the regular bus. We waited at the same bus stop and then I realized that I didn't have a small coin (2 pounds) to pay for my bus, and I couldn't exchange it around the university because no small shops there. So, I asked someone who was waiting on the same bus also, whether she had exchanged to my 20 pounds, but she didn't have it instead she gave me 2 pounds for my bus ticket. I felt amazed and unbelieved asking 'really?' and she just said 'yeah, no problem'.
On the bus, I felt how amazing things happened during these two days in Liverpool and how all those good things happened to me. You reap what you sow, maybe, but I guess that barely not because of that, I realized that God is taking care of me instead of all my worries in this new city, new country! Another goodness from Liverpool and that's why I love Liverpool. Of course, the next day I need to exchange my money and prepare my bus fare lol.
September 2024, Liverpool.
Too bad there's no GO-JEK, there.... Hahaha......
